Universal Health Care
Affordable health care should be accessible to everyone. Thanks to her father’s military service and veteran status, her family always had access to the medical care they needed. In Congress, she is fighting to expand access to health so that everyone , regardless of income, employment or citizenship status, has affordable, equitable, high-quality health care. She fought for expanded tax credits in the American Rescue Plan that lowered health care costs for tens of thousands of people in the South Sound.
Marilyn is dedicated to lowering the cost of prescription drugs and is a cosponsor of legislation allowing Medicare to negotiate drug prices, resulting in lower drug prices for those on private insurance as well as Medicare. She also voted for the Affordable Insulin for All Act, which would cap insulin prices at $35 per month.
She also supports adding a public health care option, which will increase coverage, lower prices, and lead to better plans from private insurers. She cosponsors legislation lowering the eligibility age for Medicare and supports increasing the age for children to stay on their parents’ insurance.
Marilyn will continue to fight to strengthen protections for people with preexisting conditions and end surprise billings, and she will continue to advocate patent reform so generic drugs can come to market more quickly, which will lower the cost of prescriptions.
